Edward Roesbery

Edward James Roesbery, 66, of Toledo died May 2. He was born July 4, 1945 in Nyssa, Oregon to Edward Walter Roesbery and Virginia Louise (Green) Roesbery. He married Barbara (Cameron) Roesbery August 3, 1973 in Woodland, Washington. They have lived in the Toledo and Newport areas since then. Ed did mill work until he had a serious injury that made him unable to work. He is survived by Barbara Marie Roesbery of Toledo; daughter Brenda Martin (Tony) Irrigon, Oregon; grandchildren James Martin of Umatilla, Travis Martin and Alicia Martin of Irrigon; mother Virginia Roesbery of Cincinnati, OH; siblings Robert Roesbery and Mary Matthews, both of Cincinnati, OH. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Walter Roesbery. A private ceremony has been held. Services by Affordable Burial & Cremation.

Obituary: April Ernst of Toledo

April Ann Ernst, 43, of Toledo, died April 29 at her home. She was born June 25, 1968 in Traverse City, Michigan to Joe and Clara Sanders. She married Jesse Ernst on May 2, 2009 in Toledo, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-sons, Jedadiah Ernst and Joseph Ernst. She is survived by her husband, Jesse Ernst of Toledo; brother, Jerry Fulks of Arkansas; sisters, Betty Roybal of Arizona and Nelda Hines of California; step-daughters, Jennifer (Tom) Herb and Brittany Ernst; Four grandchildren; aunts, nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Toledo Elks Lodge on May 6, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception following. Memorial Donations may be made to Samaritan Pacific Hospice, PO Box 945, Newport, OR 97365.

Obituary: Eleanor Kaps of Toledo

Eleanor (Ellie) Mae West Kaps, 74, of Toledo, died April 20 in Newport. She was born January 25, 1938 in Tumwater WA to Arthur P. and Mazie (Cummings) West. She was a 1956 graduate of Toledo High School. She worked in banking for 38 years, first at National Security Bank and later at US Bank. She married Marlyn Kaps in 1958. Her family said she was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and the Red Hat Society, “and enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, golfing, bowling, collecting books, quilting and volunteering.”

She is survived by her husband, Marlyn R Kaps; children Bryon (Tammy) Kaps of Toledo and Gayle (Jim) Ritz of Monroe, OR; grandchildren Stephanie (Adam) Peterson of Newport, Ashley (James) Roush of Oahu, HI and Jillian (Dillon) Ritz-Franklin of Eugene; great-grandchildren Lainie Peterson, Hali Peterson, and Reegan Peterson, all of Newport; siblings Arthur (Bud) West of Toledo, Ronald West of Siletz and Norma J Burnham of Olympia, WA. She was preceded in Death by her parents, and sister Jessie West Lemmon. A Memorial will be held April 28 at 2:00 p..m at St John’s Episcopal Church in Toledo. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St John’s Episcopal Church.

Ralph Clinton Jones of Toledo died at his home April 7. Ralph was born in Toledo March 7, 1939 to James D. Jones and Julia A. Jones, who preceded him in death. He attended Siletz High School, Oregon Tech at Klamath Falls, honorably served in the United States Army and retired at the age of 57 from Georgia Pacific Toledo Division in 1996. Ralph is survived by his wife of 45 years, Meg. He is also survived by daughter Margaret and son James (Jennifer); grandchildren Ashlee Orn (Jeffrey), Keith Irwin Jr., J.T. Jones, Joshua Irwin and Sydnee Jones; great-grandson Kaiden Irwin; sister Joanne Watt (Barry); brother Bob Jones (LeeAnn) and brother-in-law J.K. Smiley of Colorado; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Ralph was a member of AWPPW Local #13, the Toledo Eagles #2219, a Past Exalted Ruler of BPOE #1664, a member of the Toledo Booster Club and the Newport Booster Club, and the Road Runner Rock & Gem Club of Quartzsite, Arizona. He attended Newport First Christian Church. His family said, “Ralph pursued his hobbies of gardening, lapidary work, traveling, football games, and a baseball game anytime, anywhere! Most of all, he loved being with his beloved children and grandchildren. Ralph was a kind, generous, strong and courageous man of faith who will be missed beyond measure by his family.” The family expresses gratitude to Dr. Peter Kenyon and all the staff of at Samaritan Pacific Hospice. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, May 1 at 1:00 p.m. at Newport First Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Ralph be remembered with a donation to Samaritan Pacific Hospice (930 SW Abbey Street, Newport). Arrangements by Bateman Funeral Home.
