Siletz River Cleanup Saturday

April 8, 2012 Logsden, Siletz No Comments

The Siletz Watershed Council hosts its annual river cleanup Saturday April 14, with the kickoff at 9:00 a.m. at Illahee Park in Siletz. After a check-in and refreshments, volunteers will move to various sections of the river to remove trash from the banks. Afterwards, volunteers return to Illahee Park between 1:00-2:00 for lunch and aprize raffle. Volunteers are reminded to dress appropriately for the Oregon Coast weather (waterproof boots, rain gear, etc.) and bring extra work gloves if possible. The Council would also like volunteers with boats able to float the river and collect trash. “This is a great opportunity to for drift boaters to help keep the river scenic,” according to Council coordinator Aaron Duzik.

Volunteers who do not pre-register are encouraged to show up before 9:00 a.m. Saturday to fill out a waiver. You can pre-register at this link. Duzik said the event depends on the river level. If the river is at five feet or below on the USGS gauge the event will go on as planned. If the river is above five feet, the event will be rescheduled for Saturday, April 21. For information call 503-621-2433.
